The Faculty of Physics and Mathematics is one of the oldest faculties of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank.
In 1947, the first enrollment in the specialty «Physics» and «Mathematics» took place.
Currently, recruitment is carried out in the Bachelor’s degree (general higher education) and Master’s degree (advanced higher education).
Bachelor’s degree:
- Physics and mathematics education (mathematics and informatics),
- Physics and mathematics education (mathematics and physics),
- Physical and mathematical education (physics and informatics).
The form of study is full–time. The duration of training is 4 years.
Master’s degree:
- Physics and mathematics education. Specialization: Mathematics, physics, informatics.
The form of study is full–time. The duration of training is 1 year.
The form of study is correspondence. The duration of training is 1 year and 6 months.
- Physics and mathematics education. Specialization: Educational Robotics.
The form of study is correspondence. The duration of training is 1 year and 6 months.

Educational and scientific activities, scientific and methodological work of the faculty is carried out by the dean’s office and departments that are part of the faculty:
- Mathematics and methods of teaching mathematics
The staff of the department carries out research work on the problem «Development of educational and methodological support for mathematical training in the system of general secondary and higher pedagogical education based on the competence–based approach».
- Informatics and methods of teaching informatics
The staff of the department carries out research work on the problem of «Scientific and methodological support for the modernization of the training system for future informatics teachers in the context of the development of a digital society».
- Physics and methods of teaching physics
The staff of the department carries out research work on the problem of «Adaptation of electronic information resources for the formation of professional competencies in the field of physics by methods of integration into the system of pedagogical education of traditional and distance learning».
Scientific and educational centers of the Faculty:
- Republican Resource Center for Educational Robotics,
- Laboratory of digital modeling of physical processes,
- Multimedia laboratory,
- The planetarium.
Two conferences are held annually at the faculty:
- the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Physics and Mathematics Education: traditions, innovations, prospects»,
- International student Scientific and practical conference «Innovative approaches to teaching physics, mathematics, informatics».
The conferences are devoted to topical problems of physics, mathematics and informatics, problems of teaching physics, mathematics and informatics at school and university. The issues of content, quality of knowledge, organization of research and independent work, use of information technologies in teaching physics, mathematics and informatics, methods of teaching mathematics, informatics and physics in general are considered.
